On October 14, 2021, Jeffery Lamar Williams, p.k.a “Young Thug,” filed a suit in Gwinnett Superior Court in Georgia against the owner and property manager of the building at which Young Thug resides for negligent supervision and negligence. According to the complaint, Young Thug returned to Atlanta from Los Angeles and was unpacking his car in the apartment’s parking garage. He mistakenly left a Louis Vuitton bag outside of his car in the garage. In the bag was $40,000 cash, diamond jewelry, and a hard drive of unreleased songs; the estimated total value of the contents was over $1 million dollars.

Later that evening an employee found the bag and knew it belonged to Plaintiff. The employee placed the bag in a secure location in the apartment building and contacted the Plaintiff who was going to send a representative to retrieve it. The employee who found the bag left specific instructions, directing other employees to contact her before releasing the bag to anyone. However, at some point, another concierge member gave Plaintiff’s bag to an unknown person. The person and the bag have yet to be found.

Plaintiff’s suit alleges that “Defendants voluntarily took possession of Plaintiff’s property, notified Plaintiff of their possession of his property, and undertook additional efforts to secure it and only return it to a proper party.” Therefore, by giving the bag to the unidentified person, Defendants breached their legal duty. Young Thug is seeking compensatory damages for the value of the missing items, including the Louis Vuitton bag, the cash, the jewelry, and the unreleased songs.

Jeffery Williams is represented by Charles Hoffecker of Hayle Hoffecker Peacock LLC.

Counsel information for the apartment complex, its owners, and the managing company was not immediately available Friday.

The case is Jeffery Williams v. JLB Peachtree Management LLC, et al., 21-A-08062-3, in the Superior Court of Gwinnett County, State of Georgia.
